Howe house is a relaxed and homely house. We are very proud to be the first girls house to be refurbished and the girls and staff appreciate the warm and friendly environment that has been created. Nothing can replace home but Howe house is as near to home as can be within the limitations of a boarding school. The girls grow up with many close friends with whom they share the good times and the bad. We have 58 beds for boarding girls and currently have 13 day pupils who involve themselves fully in all house events.

My aim as housemistress is to create an environment that engenders respect, trust and a sense of self worth based on honesty, hard work and consideration for others. The staff and I want the Howe girls to feel strong and capable in this very competitive world and there is a strong drive to achieve academically as well as in the many sporting events. The girls are encouraged to ‘have a go’ at as many challenges as possible.
I could go on but prefer to keep it simple. I want all the girls who pass through Howe to be happy with the person that they have become, to be aware of their strengths and weaknesses and not be handicapped by them. But above all, a Howe girl should be honest with herself and be able to accept responsibility for the decisions that she has made.
